Step 1 - Create an account
- Go to http://www.sixxs.net/signup/create/ and create a SixXs account. (10 easy mini steps to IPv6)
- Important:
- Your e-mail address has to be an @edpnet e-mail address
- Under "Reason" you have to specify that you will use this for edpnet test purposes and also specify your linkedin account if possible.
- After submitting you will receive a verification e-mail to check if your @edpnet e-mail address really exists and works.
- After verification, your signup is passed to the SixXS Staff for manual (read: human) approval which can take from 5 minutes till a few days.
Step 2 - Request a tunnel
- Go to http://www.sixxs.net/home/requesttunnel/ and request a tunnel.
- Edpnet currently has 2 POP's available: Sint-Niklaas (BE) and St-Petersburg (RU) (http://www.sixxs.net/pops/edpnet/)
- There are three options here: Heartbeat, static and AYIYA.
- AYIYA is the one that almost always works and goes over firewalls and NAT.
Choose this tunnel type if you would like to set up a single computer / server. (More info) - Heartbeat can be chosen for cases where you are not behind a NAT or can configure it into DMZ mode.
Choose this tunnel type if you would like to set up your Fritz!box 7340 or Cisco device. (More info) - Static should only be chosen if you have a static IPv4 address without NAT.
This tunnel also requires 100% uptime and if you fail to do that credits will be taken from your SixXs account.
- AYIYA is the one that almost always works and goes over firewalls and NAT.
- After you requested your tunnel you only have to wait for the approval mail which should follow within a reasonable time and then you are ready to try out the tunnel.
Step 3 - Get started
- Congratulations, you now have succesfully set up your SixXs account with our tunnel.
- You can now configure the tunnel on your device via our manuals:
